Options Profit Calculator

Enter any single-leg call or put — buy or sell — and see your profit/loss at expiration, breakeven, max profit and max loss, with a live payoff chart. No signup, nothing saved.

How to read the payoff chart

The chart shows your total profit or loss (vertical axis) at every possible stock price on expiration day (horizontal axis). Where the line is green you're in profit; red is a loss. The blue dashed line is your breakeven, and the gray dashed line marks the strike. The flat part is where the option expires worthless (you just lose/keep the premium); the sloped part is where it's in the money.

Important: this is profit/loss at expiration (intrinsic value). Before expiration your option also carries time value and implied volatility — so a live position can be worth more or less than what's shown here, and IV crush can move it against you even when you're right on direction.

Frequently asked

How do you calculate profit on a call option?

For a long call, profit at expiration = max(stock price − strike, 0) − premium paid, times 100 shares per contract. You break even when the stock is above the strike by the premium you paid; max loss is the premium. A short call is the mirror — you keep the premium unless the stock climbs above the strike.

What is the breakeven on an option?

Call breakeven = strike + premium. Put breakeven = strike − premium. At that price the payoff exactly offsets what you paid, so P&L is zero.

What is the maximum loss on a long option?

When you buy a call or put, your max loss is the premium paid — it can expire worthless but can't cost more. Selling options is different: a short call has theoretically unlimited loss, and a short put's loss runs down to the strike.

Does this include time decay and IV?

No — it shows P&L at expiration (intrinsic value), which doesn't depend on theta or IV. Before expiration the option carries extra time/IV value, so a live position can differ from the expiration payoff here.
